What happened to May?

Ah bollocks to May - was crap anyway. So what am I doing up at this time of the morning? Buggered if I know. Well, my hands have been hurting again, kept me up all night, so friday I had to take a sick day, and slept all day. Not too bad right now, 'cept my hands feel like there is an electric current buzzing through them. Makes typing bloody difficult but it is preferable to alternate text entry methods I tried. Speech recognition? Shite. Handwriting? Shite.
Got a jazzy ergonomic kb at work and at home which helps somewhat.
Oh hum - back to burning the 300gb+ stuff of my drives.

So, your son has an accident at school and ends up looking like this and the school DON'T call you and let you know? Grrrrr

And here's the close-up for dramatic effect - notice the mournful look in his eyes - the boy sure can lay it on thick when he wants!

It's Mel C - we like her! (especially as it seems she got rid of the chav-like gold cap - ew!)

Well , I did inform you before I embarked upon this adventure in blogging that I was unreliable.
I proved that to be true!
Nothing much exciting right now - too much work to do to spend ages doing this stuff.
New Beta of Newsbin 5 - very cool. Going NZB crazy right now - cuts down the amount of time spent messing with the downloads.

Been away a long time .....

Back in a Tracksuit - cracking song! But no, I'm not about to break into song. Besides, I'm at work so it wouldn't be appropriate. Had a few things to contend with so no blog for a bit - sorted now.

What's new?
I now have a garden. Well, I already had this space where the garden should be, but it was pretty much a jungle. Now I have a lawn at the back !!!!!!! And soon at the front too - bloody expensive so it will have to wait. Only problem is it needs looking after - like constantly, dude! So each evening I have to get out there and water it. bah!

Oh well, that'll do for now. Gotta get some work done now, I suppose :-(

OMG! It's Gruey!

So, you settle down with the wife to watch a DVD, like you do.

The film just happens to be 9 Songs, described by the Guardian as the most explicit film in British cinema.

So there we are watching a real live BJ on the telly box - not a porno mind you, this is a film that got a real 18 rating, not R18, just 18 - when all of a sudden, just as the BJ reaches it's natural conclusion, the wife shouts "Oh my god! It's Gruey!".

A quick word to the younger generation - sometime in the 80's there was a BBC kids program called Gruey. The actor, Kieran O'Brien, later went on to do Children's Ward on ITV. Coronation Street and played Fitz's son in Cracker. But we know him as Gruey. Good old Gruey - always getting into trouble. How we laughed.

Now we were watching him populate his belly with some whie stuff. Well, needless to say the wife was a little distraught. I mean, it's Gruey!! For Christ's sake - it's Gruey!

I think she has managed to file the memory of this away somewhere in the dark recesses of her mind as she quite enjoys the film now. I must admit it's not porn. Quite erotic in many places, but not porn. It is a love story interspaced with some rather good music. The natural progression of a relationship over a period of 9 gigs at the Brixton Academy from thier first meeting to their final parting. A good story, some very entertaining sex scenes and great music. What more could you possibly ask for from a film?

Also, today we watched Layercake and The Transporter. I found The Transporter to be very fun. Totally unrealistic, but fun. Bacon will never be the British Steven Segal. And his yank accent was crap. Layer cake was spoilt by Colm Meany (sp?) - I wanted the rest of the crew to materialise :-)

Ah well, another day over. Twin Peaks and that cross dressing Mulder are calling me :-)

You are, you know?

Here's a picture we like to send to each other at work. We do get some work done, but we occasionally have to vent our homophobic angst by sending this to each other. I don't think it helps, but it is fun :-) Posted by Hello

My Nephew - thinks he can play. Awww bless. No, don't mock the afflicted, it could happen to one of your loved ones! Besides he can play the first few notes of the bass line to that White Stripes thing - you know "dum dum dum dum dum dum, dum" bloody repetitive though! Posted by Hello

Geek Alert! Geek Alert!

Oh no! Lookout!
They've released a trailer for the new Star Wars film!
That'll keep the anoraks busy for a while, eh?
What is is about these guys, and invariably they are guys. I like the Star Wars films - they are great films. However, I do not feel the need to memerise the script, know the name and bio of every character, no matter how incidental or (and this is the biggie!) collect the goddam figures! Arrghh!

They all remind of the comic book store owner in the Simpsons.

I saw some really scary pictures a while back on LJ of people dressed in costumes of their own making attending these Geek-Con things - the best bit was some wit's commentry on the costumes - fucking hilarious! Must find link - well worth a read.

I was never really envious of the Star Wars nuts at school. Even if I did get obsessed with the films I would never have been able to afford the crap - all my money went on fags and mars bars - might explain the unhealthy fat bastard I turned into I suppose.

I suppose I was never really any good at obsessions. I tried stamp collecting - pretty nerdy that one. Kept the collection for ages but never really collected anything worthwile. I was a scout - pretty nerdy/geeky too. Not much cop at that either - got into trouble once when leading a night time hike with a load of younger scouts. We took a detour to buy some beer :-) Once we were camp wardens for the weekend - supposed to be keeping an eye on things etc. Spent a weekend in bed smoking fags one of the other scouts had nicked off his dad! I was on the school quiz team - another office of geekdom - was crap at that too.

I think then, in summary, I'm just not good enough to be a Star Wars fan. Deep down I want to be a geek. But I may be destined to be a wannabe geek. Oh woe is me :-(

****************************

Speaking of new film releases the HHGTTG film is scheduled for release in April. The trailer is available HERE. This is in no way geeky as I say it isn't. I have all the radio series and the TV series and the books and the computer game. I must admit reservations though. Letting Americans at this fantastic series may be a big mistake - one the late Mr Adams did his best to avoid. The trailer does make it look pretty good though. I just hope I can ignore the american accents!

Jesus, I must be tired - I tend to waffle when tired. Time for me to put Twin Peaks on and drift off to sleep dreaming of David Duchovny in drag :-)

Night Night, dear blog.

This is Funny!

Just watched part of this film and I was well enjoying it. Then I was interrupted by a good friend nudging me (you know who you are!), then someone came to door, then a friend called asking me to do some printing for him, then he picked up the printing and decided he wanted a few changes to his website, then we contacted the support at the webhost as the domain we ordered for his website is still not registered, then I uploaded his site to my ISP webspace so he could show a few people what it was like, then I decided to update you, dear blog.

Wow. Long sentence. Must. Make. Up. For. It. With. A. Few. Short. Ones.

OK. Natural balance of nature and sentence length has been restored. Back to Mr Clooney et al methinks :-)

On the second day ....

... he looked at his blog and

  • repeatedly changed the template
  • played with the css
  • reset the template after fucking up the css
  • played some more with the html
  • reset the template after fucking up the html
  • managed to add links to dead useless sites
  • added some shiny graphic links
and lo he was bloody well knackered. So much for all my plans tomorrow. I still feel grotty and I have stayed up till way past my bedtime. Knowing me I'll still wake at 5am like a good little masochist.

Farewell, new blog, I shall think about writing to you on the morrow.

See you when the sun comes up.

The beginning....

I cannot believe I had to create an account just so I could comment - you really should allow anon comments!

So whilst I'm here I may as well do something.

I know, I'll moan about having to pay for loads of tickets and travel and hotels so the missus can stalk James Marsters... AGAIN. I mean, dude, come ON!

Ah well, gets rid of her for a bit, but at what price freedom, eh?

So today is a sick day for I are poorly. Poor me.

Tomorrow I booked off anyway so I didn't have to take part in the Comic Relief crap at work. I'm not tight - I just have self respect.

So maybe I will keep up with this blog thing... and maybe not. My LJ is pretty haphazard so we shall have to wait and see.
